Today I want to introduce an Indian food call Banana Leaf Rice. Some of you may have already tried the Banana Leaf Rice. So far I tried 2 times only and both also at different restaurant. I personally prefer the second restaurant that I went to eat the Banana Leaf Rice which I will introduce today.

The Devi's Corner

There is a restaurant call Devi’s Corner in Bangsar Baru serves Banana Leaf Rice. That day, my friend came to find me for lunch and she wanted to try the Banana Leaf Rice in Bangsar. So we decided to try it in Devi’s Corner. They only serve Banana Leaf Rice at 1st Floor of the restaurant. The ground floor of the restaurant is just like the normal Mamak stall.

Banana Leaf Rice of course must have a banana leaf placed in front of you. They will put some rice at the center of the banana leaf then they will put some side dishes beside the rice. You can check the picture below to have a look at their side dishes that they serve. After that you can choose different types of gravy to put on top of your rice. That day I choose their curry gravy. This is the standard Banana Leaf Rice which cost RM 6.

The side dishes.

For those who want to have extra dish like chicken, fish or mutton, you can order it seperately and eat with the Banana Leaf Rice. That day we ordered one chicken and one fish to try. The chicken and fish were very nice. The chicken and fish cost RM 11.50 in total.

Banana Leaf Rice + Chicken

For those who want to try Banana Leaf Rice, come over to Bangsar’s Devi’s Corner and try their delicious Banana Leaf Rice. The Devi’s Corner just located opposite the Bangsar Village II and Bangsar police station.

Last Friday my office had a farewell dinner at the Victoria Station in Bangsar for 2 interns, Jun and Tan. This was my first here in Victoria Station and the feeling in the restaurant is very good. Nicely decorated and got 2 mock up train in it. We actually sit inside one of the train enjoying our dinner. Victoria Station is popular for its steak (mainly beef but they do serve chicken and seafood). I can’t eat beef due to religion so I had lobster and chicken set. The lobster is so nice and make me want to come here again next time.

Wednesday – Loh Mee

Thursday – Loh Mee

A lot of people like to come to eat here. During lunch time, the shop is packed with people especially on Monday and Friday when he sells Curry Mee and Prawn Mee. You have to come early else the owner will say “Bo Liao” (in Hokkien means No More). They offer in 2 sizes small and big. The shop is just right beside an open air carpark beside the TRUE FITNESS in Desa Sri Hartamas. It only opens on weekdays from morning to noon.

Today already 7th day in Japan. I getting used to the environment here… I’m sure you all wondering what do I eat everyday and how much is one meal here in Japan. There’s way to save here if you know how to find cheap and good food. In Kawaguchi, you find tons of restaurant here. Until today, I tried their italian restaurant, Japanese curry rice, Obento (set lunch), Taiwanese restaurant, Hong Kong Restaurant and McDonald. Usually for lunch I will go to restaurant to eat and for dinner I will go to supermarket to buy Obento to eat. Wondering why at night I go buy Obento to eat? Because they don’t keep overnight their Obento that they cook that day. So they will give discount on Obento and a lot of Japanese buy Obento at night for their dinner.

Their Obento price is ranging from 350 yen up to 600 yen and eating in restaurant ranging from 700 yen up to 1200 yen per meal. 350 yen Obento consider very cheap here if you are earning Japanese Yen. The best way to save money here is to cook yourself. Today I went to supermarket to buy spagetti and sauce to cook spagetti myself to eat. I calculated that 1 meal just cost about 150 yen if I cook spagetti myself. So it is all up to you whether how much you want to save here. Below are some photos on Obento that I ate.
